Tree update

Well, I’m not a very dedicated tree watch reporter am I? I promise you that I have watched the tree develop its leaves and all

it ‘s summer splendour, but I didn’t take photos until this week and here they are, my tree taking up it’s Autumn pose, scattering seed and leaves at its feet and under mine.

Farewell to summer

Today is the last day of August. September begins tommorrow (hows that for stating the obvious ) The weather forecast for the week ahead promises rain and cooler temperatures, so it will soon be feeling Autumnal.

The shops will display Christmas stock in an attempt to coax what money is available from people’s purses. Christmas will come soon enough and winter will be upon us. People going to work in the dark (those who still have jobs to go to) and coming home in the dark.

After Christmas, comes the New year, welcome or otherwise (depending on one’s personal perspective) January and February may bring snow, fog and misery for commuters and for old people or anyone who can’t stand the cold.

Soon, Easter eggs will appear on the supermarket shelves, where they will sit for a while until children persuade their parents and grandparents to buy them. Easter hails the spring, March winds and April showers. Daffodils, crocus and tulips show their faces to the world.

May will come with it’s bonus of two Bank Holidays (If you’re in England) and with it the anticipation of summer. The sun may show its face for a few days in May to whet our appetite before being obscured by clouds and rain during June and July as it was this year.

So soon, we are in August, long school holidays and traditionally, the height of summer. Seaside trips and country walks, children playing outdoors, but that elusive sun is only visiting, letting us feel the heat of its rays for an hour or two before retreating behind the clouds.

Then it will be September, and Harvest Festivals, Blackberry picking and Conkers falling from the trees – Oh yes, Autumn; isn’t that what I was talking about in the first place :-/
